Yvonne Niemann Photography Tells Family Stories

By Kelly Church

Yvonne Niemann always knew she wanted to be a photographer. She was given her first SLR camera in junior high school and worked as a photojournalist, video producer and reporter in the early years of her career. In 2007, she started Yvonne Niemann Photography, based out of St. Louis before moving to Athens, GA, for family and infant photography.

"After I had my daughter, almost 11 years ago, I became interested in taking portraits for families to tell their story," Niemann said. "Shortly afterwards, I started Yvonne Niemann Photography in 2007."

Niemann has more than a decade of experience working in photography. She can guide her clients throughout every step of the process, helping them feel comfortable in front of the camera. She assists with location scouting if photos are being taken outside of the home, wardrobe and any other preparations the client may need.

"I love getting to know families and capturing their family dynamic through my camera," Niemann said. "The love and bonds between parents and their children is powerful to witness and it is an honor to create photographic artwork showcasing these connections."

Niemann's photos are bright and tend to utilize neutral tones. Much of her photography takes place outside, utilizing the Georgia scenery as a backdrop. A lot of her newborn photography features the infant swaddled, or cradled by Mom. Niemann also captures dreamy landscape photography. Flowers and leaves are often the main subject, but larger landscapes are as well.

"My photography style is timeless, pure and sentimental," Niemann said. "I am dedicated to creating portraits that evoke genuine emotion and natural beauty in families and children, with a focus on connection, love and joy. It is legacy photography, telling families' stories to be passed down through the generations."

Yvonne Niemann Photography offers high quality prints and other handmade products that feature photography. Clients can choose from fine art image boxes, heirloom boxes and matted framed prints for the wall.

Newborn sessions are longer than other photography sessions due to keeping the newborn's schedule for feedings, sleeping and diaper changes. For other youngsters, the petite portrait session lasts 20 minutes, as an abbreviated version of the premium portrait sessions, which last an hour or more.
