Studio Lotus Forsyth Helps Clients Change More Than Just Their Bodies

By Kelly Church

At Studio Lotus Forsyth, instructors help clients experience truly great Pilates, and all of the secondary benefits that come with Pilates. Their philosophy is, "Good Pilates changes your body. Great Pilates changes everything." The Cumming, GA studio opened in March of 2011 after owner Kim Bergonzi experienced an enlightening trip to Mexico.

"While vacationing at Rancho La Puerta in 2008, I met a career coach who urged me to follow my passion," Bergonzi said. "Over the next two years, I worked on the transition from corporate accounting [and] finance director to Pilates teacher and studio owner, completing a comprehensive teacher training program through Power Pilates and building the studio at The Collection Forsyth."

The studio is described as welcoming, non-judgmental and one that offers an appropriate level of challenge to clients. Every session reevaluates what the client needs from their Pilates practice on that day, because needs change from session to session.

"We strive to meet each client at their current fitness level," Bergonzi said. "Every day is different for each person. You may feel great and strong one day, so we work at that level, but another day may come in with a 'just be happy I made it here' kind of feeling."

Studio Lotus Forsyth offers private, semi-private and two different types of group classes. In private sessions, clients work one-on-one with the instructor. Semi-private sessions are held with 2-3 clients with a single instructor. Class options include Reformer, Tower/Reformer Combination, Express HIIT and Cardio Strength.

"Our group classes are small [with four to six people], so you are never lost in the crowd," Bergonzi said. "We want to make sure that everyone is safe and getting the most from their time in the studio. We have highly skilled instructors, each with over six years [of] experience, who continue to broaden their knowledge through continuing education programs."

According to Bergonzi, instructors form close bonds with their clients. Each instructor takes a personal approach to teaching, to help their clients feel comfortable and get the most out of their practice.

"Exercise can change your body, but we want to help you improve your overall wellness [and] wellbeing," Bergonzi said. "Changes that I hear clients attribute to their work at the studio [include] better posture, longer [and] leaner muscles, sleeping better, improved overall attitude, [and] weight loss when combined with improved nutrition."
