Michelle Scott Photography Provides A Total, Complete Experience

By Elisha Neubauer

Michelle Scott can't remember a time in her life when a camera wasn't involved. Long before she picked up her own, she was the subject of many photos as her father documented the day-to-day routines of his family's life. As Scott developed a passion for photography herself, she moved from in front of the lens to behind it.

Although Scott had always enjoyed photography, it was merely a hobby until she enrolled at Kennesaw State Universty. During this time, she decided to pursue the industry on a professional level.

"My love for photography really blossomed after understanding the true fundamentals of a camera and how images are formed in the darkroom," Scott said.

Today, Scott has been photographing weddings, portraits, and other life events for over eight years. She believes that people should have a close, personal relationship with their photographer and that their personalities should click in order to produce the best and truest photography possible. Scott's specialty is documenting authentic moments in a beautiful, artful way. She strives to create pieces which can be considered timeless and which will last a lifetime, something every client can appreciate long after the event ends.

"I connect with couples who are adventurous, crazy in love, and value the time it takes for this craft," she said. "My goal is to always knock the socks of my clients went they receive all their images."

Scott has an artistic background which she believes translates well into her work, making each piece a true work of art. Her images create an incredible visual image while evoking an emotional response, unlike traditional staged pieces.

"I don't exactly play it safe in my photography," she said. "I am bold, and go with my gut, embrace light as well as darkness, movement, color, imperfect, spontaneous moments, as well as a beautiful portrait."

It is this risk-taking that makes Scott such an asset to any special day. When she speaks of her wedding photography, she refers to it as a curated collection of the truth behind the day, stating that her couples receive something authentic, as well as some fine art to put on the wall.

Having been a bride herself, and now a mother, Scott finds connections with each and every photo she shoots. This dedication to each image has earned her quite a reputation in the industry. Scott's work has been featured in a slew of publications including Wedding Unveiled Magazine, The Knot Magazine, Cosmopolitan, Style Me Pretty, and many more. Her love for photographing weddings, in particular, is apparent when you look at her work.

She explained that she has a soft spot for when a dad sees his daughter for the first time in her wedding dress. She enjoys seeing, and feeling, the anticipation and butterflies in a bride as she walks toward her groom. Another favorite moment for Scott is right after the ceremony, when they are married, walking out as one for the first time.

"It's hard to pick a favorite part of a wedding because I truly value the entire day, the whole story," Scott said. ""I'm a sucker for the heart of the day, so this is what attracts me."
