Innovations Fitness Provides Comfort, Perks For Those Getting Into Shape

For someone that is out of shape or trying to lose weight, going to the gym can be an intimidating experience. Innovations Fitness of South Metro Atlanta, however, has implemented several strategies in the layout of their equipment and building to ensure that everyone feels good about themselves while working out.

"Our gym is designed for the regular person to feel comfortable and supported as they work toward their fitness goals," explains owner Frank Thomas. "We place equipment strategically for the comfort of our members with a semi-private ladies' lower body area, stretching areas off to the side, two smaller cardio areas away from the main cardio center, mirrors where you need them but not where you don't, and treadmills positioned so that butts are not displayed in the window."

A comfortable environment is just one of the perks of using Innovations Fitness; memberships are all-inclusive and come with access to the facility's Shiatsu massage chairs, tanning booths, a sauna, electronic body composition testing, fitness and nutrition coaching, and more. The gym is also open 24 hours a day with an electronic door entry system for extra security provided.

Innovations Fitness is family-owned and operated, and has served the McDonough, Luella, and Locust Grove areas of Henry County since 2001. Besides providing an array of equipment such as treadmills, elliptical machines, and weights, personal training services are available starting at $25 per hour. Members can receive personal training alone, with a partner, or as part of small group session, making the plans affordable.

"Sessions run from 30 minutes to an hour," says Thomas. "They are available at flexible times. We will (also) be offering Weight Management University beginning in January which includes 12 weekly one-hour seminars where participants will learn about metabolism, exercise and food relationships."

In addition to its other benefits, Innovations Fitness gives members access to a cloud-based online Menu and Activity Planner (MAP) which helps them track their fitness goals while maintaining a healthy diet. Contrary to popular belief, Thomas says one of the points that MAP assists people with is making sure they're actually eating enough food.

"A key to losing weight is understanding how your body functions," he says. "The human body has its own set of rules, and it allows no shortcuts. In fact, the body perceives shortcuts, like low-calorie dieting, as starvation - a threat to its owns survival thereby slowing metabolism and keeping low-calorie dieters from ever reaching their goals."
