Hot Yoga of Johns Creek Stays True to Traditional Bikram Yoga

By Kelly Church

Serving the north metro area of Atlanta, GA, Hot Yoga of Johns Creek is a true Bikram yoga studio. Maintaining a room heated to 105 degrees with 40 percent humidity, studio owner Jenny Matusevich said this style helps warm the muscles, prevent injury and allow for a deeper stretch and flushing of toxins in the body. Matusevich experienced the benefits of Bikram yoga herself before opening the studio.

"I used to run every day, like most of us do and at some point, my knees started to hurt," Matusevich said. "I looked at that as a sign to look for remedy to heal? The experience of practicing hatha yoga in a heated room was unique, challenging physically and mentally, and efficient. Just after a few classes I was cured and hooked."

When opening her studio, Matusevich was guided by the basic principles of yoga, which includes acknowledging each student's individual needs, caring about safety, have instructors that give their all during class, and offer a studio that is clean and community-centric.

"Our studio is a community of support and fun," Matusevich said. "We believe in providing a rich experience for our students by offering lots of encouragement to new students, by maintaining a solid base of devoted students through the years that are friendly and welcoming of newcomers; and by keeping our studio spotless and our hot yoga room pristine and odor free."

Hot Yoga of Johns Creek only teaches beginner's hot yoga and beginners yin yoga, so all classes are open to beginners and advanced students. They will also be challenging for students of all levels. For new students who are nervous about getting too hot or experiencing side effects like lightheadedness or nausea, the instructor will demonstrate effective methods of taking breaks on your mat.

Single classes at Hot Yoga of Johns Creek are $20. Students can also opt for 10 packs, 20 packs, 50 packs, one month of unlimited yoga, or a monthly auto-pay program for unlimited yoga for $99 per month.
