Experience a Music Concert Under the Stars at the Fred

By Courtney Clark

Peachtree City's Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater, or as it is commonly known, the Fred, has been a staple of the metro Atlanta area for over three decades. Although it was originally built for community events, today national and international touring acts are hosted at the popular amphitheater. With trees all around and state-of-the-art equipment, guests and performers are in for a good show.

This outdoor arena in Peachtree City provides a unique setting. Nestled in the woods and part of a landscape that Money Magazine called the 8th Best City to Live In, more than 2,300 attendees can enjoy a variety of memorable shows. Although exposed to the elements, the stage is covered and the amphitheater houses two concession stands supplied by the Georgia Shrimp Company.

Guests can also bring their own food and drink. Patrons can choose between reserved seats or tables. Tables include Gold (in front of the stage), Picnic, or Terrace. Further, the Fred has a fun twist for concert-goers: residents can ride their golf carts to shows. According to Manager Nancy Price, Peachtree City is a golf cart community, so this aspect "is a great way to travel during the spring and summer months to enjoy a concert under the stars."

Performers can also enjoy the Fred. A state-of-the-art catwalk for flying front production joins the large stage and extensive triangle aluminum truss for backlighting. Add this to top-notch spotlights and controls and artists are set for a mind-blowing show. Further, the spacious backstage area features an easy loading area near an ample amount of parking spaces.

The Fred has hosted several big-name artists such as the Beach Boys, Styx, Blake Shelton, Steve Miller Band, Creedence Clearwater Revisited, and many more. In addition to the annual series, Price says the Summer Concert Series is also popular. This year's Summer lineup consisted of the Alan Parsons Project, Steve Miller Band, Kellie Pickler, Sugar Ray & Gin Blossoms, and others. Spotlight Shows are also a hit with the likes of Lee Greenwood, Elton John Tribute, and the Departure-Journey Tribute.

With 4.3 out of 5 stars on Google, the Fred continues to provide quality entertainment for those in the metro Atlantic area. Whether patrons want to check out annual touring series or the special summer spotlights, there's sure to be a show for just about everyone. Each seat has a great view and the setting confirms what Price said: the Fred is great for a concert under the stars.
