Conyers Offers an Affordable Yet Challenging Course with Honey Creek Golf & Country Club

By S. Mathur

The Honey Creek Golf & Country Club has been "Conyers Best Golf Course" for a long time. According to Co-Owners Brett and SyriAnne Dalla, "We are an affordable, family friendly facility located in an established neighborhood/subdivision. The golf course and Country Club are a focal point to the subdivision that was built throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Many of our current members are 2nd generation - having grown up in the neighborhood and have now returned to raise their own families here."

The course is open to players at all skill levels: "Our golf course appeals to all levels of players and offers some challenging holes to test all skill levels." However, they recognize that because of the recent trend for 'expert players' to prefer much longer courses, "we would have to say our course caters more to Senior and Beginning players because our course is not as long as the newer courses. It is a challenging course that rewards thoughtful club selection - 'course management' golfers tend to be more successful than 'brute-force' golfers."

Both men and women can play in the Leagues, says Dalla,"We have an MGA (Mens Golf Association), a number of senior leagues, and several church and company sponsored leagues that play here. We are developing additional league play for men, women, and junior golfers. Anyone interested in participating is invited to contact the club for details." Members can make reservations for tee times online at the Club website.

The Club has different membership levels, which give members access to the golf course, swimming pool and social events. There are tennis courts as well, and a lounge and restaurant. There are also spaces for private parties, events and meetings. Four banquet areas including an outside patio can accommodate parties of up to a hundred people. The restaurant and lounge serve lunch and cocktails every day, and dinner on Wednesdays and Fridays.

The menu for lunch includes salads, sandwiches, burgers, & special items. Dinners are sometimes accompanied by bingo and trivia games, and winners get a complimentary meal. There are special meals for holidays and special events.

Since January 2015, the new owners of the Honey Creek Golf and Country Club have been engaged in repairs and upgrades. Brett and SyriAnne say that "Many of the larger projects were on the golf course (tree removal, bridge repairs, greens repairs, etc.)." Homeowners whose property bounds the course are also grateful for the improvements.

Long-time members have happy memories of the Club and appreciate the changes restoring the Club and the course. One member writes that he has "Been going here since I was a teenager and it's still one of my favorite little courses. New ownership is definitely bringing it back to its original glory days! Pretty good food and good twilight deals." It's a good place to meet friends, play golf, swim and enjoy a leisurely meal.
