Bliss Mama Wellness Nurtures Healthy Mothers

By Marina I. Jokic

There are many spas out there, but few that concentrate on the special needs of women and mothers. Bliss Mama Wellness has created a healing space for the local female community in Cumming, Georgia. Offering a slew of therapies such as prenatal and postnatal massage, Swedish massage, lymphatic drainage, and customized facial care, the spa uses natural ingredients and a holistic approach to wellness care.

After years of working as a massage therapist, owner of Bliss Mama Wellness Jennessa Sabella wanted to create a unique business concept that would be directed specifically toward helping women. Zeroing in on the needs of mothers, Sabella addresses the many physical and emotional challenges they face, especially before and after delivery.

"Raising children is a wonderful, beautiful, [but] stressful thing," Sabella said. "Moms can come to Bliss Mama Wellness to escape the craziness of life, seek soulful, body-positive yoga classes, receive healing massage and skincare services, and find friends and a sense of community."

At Bliss Mama Wellness, the service menu won't disappoint even the most demanding of customers. With a 60-minute customized massage package, your therapist will design a treatment plan that fits your specific short- and long-term needs. For Sabella, long-term solutions that cure pain and discomfort take precedence over mere pampering.

"When we decided to make the spa [entirely for and by] women, we noticed a more relaxed environment for both employees and clients," she said. "We want this to be a place where women can come and feel safe to talk about healing their body and soul in a way that cannot be stated around men."

The maternity-focused services at Bliss Mama Wellness feature their signature prenatal massage, a side-lying massage with specific attention to the hips, lower back, feet, and other problem areas. A complementary treatment, the mother warming post-natal massage restores a mother's body in the weeks after delivery by combining warm stones and heated towels. This latter massage is recommended two to eight weeks after delivery and consists of three sessions to achieve optimum rejuvenation.

For women who are experiencing fertility issues, the fertility enhancing massage merges principals of acupressure, reflexology, and aromatherapy to improve chances for conception. By balancing the energetic and physical components of the body, this treatment can relieve a myriad of imbalances standing in the way of a healthy conception.

Bliss Mama Wellness was created around the concept of "no judgement and no pressure." As such, the spa allows women to have a liberating and therapeutic experience in a more private setting without sacrificing quality and service.
