Athens Video Creates Compelling Stories Via Video

By Pamela Sosnowski

Video can tell a story in a way that photography sometimes cannot capture. In today's technology-heavy world, compelling videos are imperative for capturing an audience's attention and conveying a message. Athens Video recognizes this, and focuses solely on video production for all types of clients, whether they're a business seeking an informative product video or an entertainer that needs a live performance recorded for DVD distribution.

"The best part of video production is working with new and old clients and learning about their world - whether it's a unique business, service, or product," says the company's project manager, Anthony Barkdoll. "With events, it's great to be part of another team, and work together on a performance or lecture, and together solve the problems inherent to every job. That's how people forge bonds and friendships, and hopefully that also helps to maintain clients as long as we do."

The company does everything from video production to editing and making copies of CDs, DVDs, and Blu-Ray discs. They can also convert VHS tapes and other formats to DVD, and offer consulting on video equipment and software. Some of the video production projects they typically cover include marketing promotions, webinars, customer testimonials, interviews, sporting events, conferences, and live performances. For television commercials and other projects, they also offer scriptwriting services for an additional fee. The staff of professional videographers uses all high definition cameras and the latest equipment such as drones, teleprompters, sliding dollies, wireless microphones, green screens, and more.

With a background in graphic design, Barkdoll was more interested in the mindset that created a well-designed cereal box or magazine vs. artwork hanging on a wall. He developed an interest in video to take on projects that were considered unglamorous at the time. "As I got more involved with digital media and design, I saw a hole in the utilitarian video production world (corporate video, industrial video, event video, etc.) because the creative people weren't interested in dealing with these 'uncreative' projects," he explains. "My goal was then to work in these less glamorous areas of video production and make it more attractive, in a graphic design sense and also in a videography sense."

Clients they have worked with include Graceful Gospel Dance Academy, Norton Red Heat Belts for Woodworking, POWDERworks facial products, and St. Joseph Catholic Parish School. But the type of project Athens Video has made a name for itself in are filming and editing live events, and can offer packages where clients need a large amount of DVDs to sell; typically of a concert, graduation, or other live performances. "We've created simple and easy to understand packages where the client knows what the cost will be and what they will get in return," he says. "We've also created a way that clients who are selling DVDs of their event can actually make money as well from the sales, instead of all the sales going to us."

Providing quality film work at a reasonable cost is the mission of Athens Video, and customizable packages are also available for virtually any project. They can also provide a quote for any size filming job and can be contacted through their website at http://www.athensvideo.net.
